discovery project

This discovery project involved visiting multiple people in their work environments. They were instructed to continue going about their days as usual and were not required to be in our software unless they needed to use it. I observed them and experienced their environment and interactions to learn if we could improve their experiences.

Research methods

  • Ethnography
  • Contextual Inquiry

Three things we learned

1

How the environment caused distractions and the loss of focus.

2

When people can’t figure out the software, they revert to using familiar tools even if it doubles
or triples their workload.

3

There is an opportunity for new report types.

How it helped our company

  • The findings energized teams and left them wanting more of this type of research.
  • Provided new thoughts, approaches, and customer-focused discussions.
  • Led to new solutions.
  • Increased empathy for our customers.
